Getting Back to our Roots
I want to take a moment to connect with you all. MOOV began four years ago with a simple, powerful mission: to create a space where everyone — no matter your shape, size, or color — feels seen, heard, and celebrated. It’s been an incredible journey, and as we continue to grow, I’m more excited than ever to deepen our mission and invite you all to reconnect with the purpose behind why we move.
Movement is more than just physical exercise — it’s a tool that has the ability to transform us in ways we might not even initially realize. And this month, I’m challenging each of you to ask yourself “why do I move?” And “what brings me to MOOV?” I want you to reflect on that as you dig deep and rediscover your “why.” And then consider… What if your “why” could evolve? What if it could grow and transform your life in new ways? I’m inviting you to go deeper — to create a new, more profound "why" that matches where you are in your life right now, and who you are becoming.
Even for me, my “why” for MOOV continues to evolve. At MOOV, we believe that movement isn’t just about how we look — it’s about how we feel, inside and out. But, we’ve seen a total shift in the body positivity movement — when we open Instagram & TikTok, it feels like it’s completely died and been replaced by something we struggle to connect with — and we have a feeling we aren’t alone in this. At MOOV, it’s so important to us that this movement lives on. That when you come to MOOV, you feel welcome in our space, seen as you move your body, and empowered and strong when you walk out our doors.
Our goal, and our “why” for this season of MOOV, is that you move because you love yourself — because you honor the amazing person you are — and if you’re not there yet, that’s okay. We hope that we can help you transform your mind until you do love and accept yourself. We’re looking at April as the start of something beautiful — a chance to begin building that love from the inside out. Movement is not a punishment — it’s a celebration. It’s a celebration of the life you’re living, the strength you have, and the journey you’re on.
Here’s our challenge for April:
Reflect on your “why”: Why do you move? Let it be something bigger than just physical goals. Feel the emotions behind it — let it stir your heart. Create a "why" that makes you feel alive, powerful, and deeply connected to who you are right now.
Commit to movement with intention: Don’t just go through the motions — move with purpose, knowing that each moment you dedicate to yourself is an act of love. Maybe you push yourself, maybe you listen to your body… Either way, let it be something that ignites you, that lights you up from within.
Make time for what you love: When do you absolutely LOVE to move? When does it feel like your soul is truly alive? Prioritize the times of day and the types of movement that make you feel your best, and make them a non-negotiable part of your life. Don’t let anything get in the way of your joy.
Move with integrity: Let your movement be aligned with your deepest values and beliefs. If you love going for walks, make that part of your weekly routine. We love having you at MOOV, but if 5 classes a week doesn’t fit with your summer plans or where you’re at in life, reflect on that… and move in a way that feels true to you, in a way that makes you feel strong, proud, and absolutely in love with yourself.
As the team and I have been creating this vision for April I’ve also been reflecting on my own “why”. And I’m going to be honest with you — In this post-partum season of life, my “why” started out pretty surface level and I’ve really had to reflect on that and find my own deeper “why”. Movement is so much more than a tool for weight loss and I’m constantly reminding myself of that! For me, movement is one hour of uninterrupted time where I show myself that I can do hard things. That I am strong, worthy, and someone I’m proud of — because I choose to take care of myself. It’s an hour to reflect on how far I’ve come and everything I’ve pushed through to get here. It’s like I’ve said in every class since having Neer: if weight loss is the only goal, we’re missing the point.
Movement is a catalyst. It fuels us. It reminds us that we are strong, capable, and worthy. It teaches grace, builds confidence, and gives us an opportunity to be proud of ourselves. In a world that constantly tells us to shrink, change, or become someone else — what if we leaned into exactly who we are?
I created MOOV so everyone would feel seen. Today, I choose to see myself — for all that I am. To accept and love my body exactly where it is. This body is helping me get stronger every day. And that’s something worth celebrating.
I believe in this community, and I believe that each and every one of you can find a deeper “why” and commit to it. Let’s move forward with purpose, passion, and an unshakable love for ourselves. You are stronger than you realize, and your potential is limitless. I am so proud of the person you are, and so excited for the person you are becoming.
We’re in this together, and I’m beyond excited to continue growing and evolving with all of you.
